WWDC 2019 – Write Codes, Blow Minds

Finally we have an official update on this year's WWDC. Apple has officially made an announcement about WWDC 2019. Know more about what all to expect and dates of WWDC 2019.

Every year Apple holds an annual conference for the developers. The objective of this annual conference is to make the developers familiar with the upcoming Apple Operating Systems. Which will help them enhance the programming of their applications.

This annual conference is known as World Wide Developer Conference or WWDC. It is held every year during the summers (mostly June). This year also, we in our earlier articles did predict the dates. And they are the ones Apple has confirmed.

The conference goes on for a week, where-in Apple kick-offs with a KeyNote on the very first day. Which is the interesting part of the entire event! Apple announces the upcoming iOS, macOS, watchOS, tvOS and more new technologies.

For quite a few years, Apple held WWDC at the Moscone Center in San Francisco, but from 2017, the company moved to the McEnery Convention Center in San Jose, California, where this year’s conference will also be held.

WWDC 2019 Dates

As per the announcement made by Apple and our prior estimations, WWDC 2019 will start on 3rd June and go on till 7th June. The 20th World Wide Developer Conference will take place at the McEnery Convention Center in San Jose, California.

The convention center is a few minute ride from the Apple Park Campus in Cupertino, California.

WWDC 2019 What to Expect?

There are couple of announcements expected this year. The announcements expected are :

  • iOS 13
  • macOS 10.15
  • watchOS 6
  • tvOS 13
  • Mac Pro

iOS 13

Like every year, Apple will be announcing the successor of the iPhone Operating System or iOS. This year, we expect iOS 13 to be launched. There are a lot of updates with regards to iOS 13 and we also wrote about them earlier in an article.

The major chance we are expecting this year is the All Dark Mode. Something very similar to what macOS Mojave has. You can read more about it here.

We are also expecting a re-designed Home Screen, it has been quite long that Apple hasn’t updated the Home Screen on iOS. There have been some minute changes, but this year we are expecting something big.

Also, we expect to see a revamped Files Application along with an update to the Live Photos. Now, every Live Photo will capture 6 seconds before and after the capture. This will help enhance the Live Photos experience.

There are lots of updates coming which shall remain iPad specific. Apple plans to add lots of features to iPad with help of updated iOS version. The company plans to improve a lot of productivity with the enhanced features.

You can read in detail about the upcoming iOS 13 here.

macOS 10.15

The next generation of Mac Operating System or macOS 10.15 is also expected to be announced at WWDC 2019. There are not a lot of information available about the upcoming macOS 10.15 at this point but one thing we’re expecting for sure is the new Universal Apps feature.

Starting with macOS 10.14 or Mojave and iOS 12, Apple has started adding few apps. So, one single app works on iOS as well as on macOS. We saw Stock, Voice Memo, etc, added to macOS Mojave.

Similarly, Apple wants to allow the developers to work on Universal Apps. This will help reduce their work load, to develop different apps for the two different operating systems. As the company wants the developers to develop apps which can work on iOS with the touch screen as well as on macOS with Mouse or TrackPad.

watchOS 6 & tvOS 13

watchOS 6 for Apple Watches and tvOS 13 for the Apple TV will also bee announced during the KeyNote at WWDC 2019. But we do not have any information at this point about these two operating systems.

The best thing that can be done, is to wait until we get close to WWDC 2019’s date and we shall have some updates about watchOS 6 and tvOS 13.

Mac Pro

We are also expecting a re-designed Mac Pro to be announced by Apple. It has been many years there has been no updates on the Mac Pro. Last Mac Pro was launched in 2013. And since than we haven’t seen any updates in the Mac Pro series from Apple.

Mac Pro are the professional desktop systems by Apple, which are very powerful with a huge memory as well as storage options. These are mostly useful for enterprises for developing softwares, games, etc.

WWDC Tickets

So, every year Apple conducts a lottery system, due to the high demand. Where-in developers from around the world participate to gain a chance to get to sit in the auditorium during the conference and witness it live. Like every year, the tickets for WWDC 2019 are priced at US$ 1,599.

In order to get a chance to apply for the lottery system, developers must be a member of the Apple Developer Program or Apple Developer Enterprise Program as of March 14, 2019 at 9:00 am Pacific Time, Registrations will be open until March 20, 2019 at 5:00 pm Pacific time, and developers will be notified about the results by March 21 at 5:00 pm Pacific time.
