Just like every year, this year in 2019 as well Apple shall launch a flag-ship iPhone and a lower-grade model. The new iPhones is expected to come out during early-to-mid-september. There are a lot of changes and upgrades that we can see in the new iPhone. The new iPhone 11 and 11 Max are not a totally different looking iPhones but as every year the internals are going to be very different.
Let us talk about everything we know till date about the new iPhone 11.
iPhone 11 and 11 Max is expected to look almost similar to the iPhone Xs and Xs Max. There are some changes in design expected which shall change few minor details.
The iPhone 11 is expected to be at 143.9 x 71.4 x 7.8mm, which is bigger and thicker than the iPhone Xs at 143.6 x 70.9 x 7.7mm. iPhone 11 Max will be at 157.6 x 77.5 x 8.1mm, which is similar to the iPhone Xs Max at 157.5 x 77.4 x 7.7 mm.
iPhone 11 and 11 Max are to feature a triple-lens camera. Current iPhone Xs and Xs Max feature a dual-lens camera. Which are placed one below the other, in an oval shaped figure. But the triple-lens camera shall be fixed into a square-shaped figure to add all three lens and the flash. It is also expected to have a bigger bump with a lesser thickness.
We might also see changes in the Volume, Mute and Power button. Due to the new-camera technology, there can be space crunch. This leads to change in design of the buttons. The positions remain the same, volume and mute button on the left side and power button on the right. But the mute button shall feature an up-and-down toggle rather than previous left-and-right toggle. The sizes of volume and power are also likely to change.
There are a lot of rumours about the iPhone 11 and 11 Max to feature a triple-lens camera. Which shall be packed in a square-shaped bumper at the left-top corner of the iPhone. According to Bloomberg, the third additional camera shall be an ultra-wide-angle camera lens.
This shall help the users to capture a wider field when clicking a picture using the third-lens. Also, there is a possibility that Apple can use blend in the data from all three-lens while using a standard zoom. This can be helpful in improving the quality of the images captured.
Talking about the front camera, we can see an upgrade from 7MP to 12MP camera. The company is planning to shift from 4-element lens to a 5-element lens. Which can improve the lighting, quality and the detailing of the selfies.
Similar to the iPhone Xs and Xs Max, iPhone 11 and 11 Max shall feature a 5.8″ and 6.5″ display, respectively. Both the models are reported to have OLED display. This helps in improving the battery life in many cases. As the OLED display does not lights the cells which are black and this in a longer run does saves a lot of battery juice.
There are reports stating that the iPhone 11 and 11 Max can feature a single-piece back glass-panel. This shall help the company to place the square-shaped bumper below the glass and decrease the thickness of the bumper.
Also, we have noticed that Apple is planning to remove 3D-touch. Apple is planning to add the poop-and-pop feature to all older iPhones as well, which do not have the 3D-touch supported displays. With iOS 13 Beta, we did see the company is remove 3D-touch of Force Touch and replacing with the longer holder / press.
Just like every year, Apple has already started working and building it’s in-house powerful chip. Just like iPhone Xs features A12X. This year’s iPhone 11 shall feature A13 chip-set, which produces along with partner TMSC.
A13 chip is being build on 7nm+ process, which shall help the chip to improve the performance significantly as compared to A12X.
Apple’s single-core CPU performance gains have been remarkably steady in recent years. If the trend holds, we’ll be looking at a Geekbench 4 single-core CPU score of around 5,200. That blows the doors off any Android phone and even most thin-and-light laptops.
The over-all focus of A13 is shifted from graphic improvement to AI performance. With iPhone 11, iOS 13 and A13 – Apple is planning to make the most use of Artificial Intelligence. As observed in iOS 13 Beta, Siri is faster and smarter than ever before. This shall be more enhanced by A13.
iPhone 11 shall have more than ever before connectivity options. As of now, we can easily connect two-output devices with help of AirPlay 2. This is possible with help of Bluetooth 5 technology. However, Bluetooth 5 has been a part of iPhones since 2017 but Apple did not add this feature until now.
Added to iOS 13, you can pair two AirPods and send the same audio to both of them at the same time. But with iPhone 11, you will be able to send out audio to any two-bluetooth-devices at the same time.
There are rumours for the iPhone 11 to support 5G network. But reports claim, Apple is not planning to add 5G support to iPhone 11, as of now. While other smartphone manufacturers are rushing to add 5G support to their smartphones, Apple is in no hurry. Possibly, Apple is waiting for stable technology support and later add it to the iPhone in 2020.
Battery & Charging
iPhone 11 is expected to feature something called, “Bi-lateral Battery Charging“. This helps you to take advantage of the back glass panel to charge Qi device wirelessly. Which means you can easily charge your AirPods 2 by placing them at the back of your iPhone 11.
Some of the android phones already feature this technology, such as Samsung S10. Samsung calls this technology Power Share. Let us see what Apple calls it!
Ming-Chi Kuo had earlier predicted that the new iPhone 11 and 11 Max shall feature a bigger battery. iPhone 11 can have up-to 20% bigger battery as compared to iPhone Xs. While, iPhone 11 Max can feature a 15% bigger battery as compared to iPhone Xs Max. The increase in battery capacity shall ensure users do not loose much on their battery and yet be able to share their battery with others.
There are also many rumours debating over the fact that will Apple include 5W power adapter or 18W fast-charger? There is likely possibility for Apple to include a 18W fast-charger in the box with iPhone 11. With the huge 3,000+ mAh battery, a fast charger is must to charge the phone. Or else it shall take forever to charge it.
Apple follows a pattern for everything. iPhone launches are meant to be in the month of September every year. The date does changes but it never crossed the month of September. This year as well, we are expecting Apple to announce iPhone 11 somewhere around the second week of September and launch during the fourth week.
