Apple hosted the September Special Event on September 10th. It is one of the annual events which the company hosts to announce its flagship iPhone. The event is more focused towards the hardware segment more, rather than anything else.
In this Apple Event, the company, obviously spoke about the rumoured iPhone 11. 2019 iPhone is available in three variants – iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max. Apart from which, Apple also spoke about 10.2-inch iPad, Apple Watch Series 5, and lot more.
Well, in case you were unable to watch the live streaming of the event, here is everything you must know about the Apple Event. A complete summary of the event in a short read.
Everything about Apple Event
Before the event kick-started, we did have rumours about most of the things that the company might speak about. Many turned out to be accurate, while few did not. But over-all, we had a perfect idea of what the company will be launching and announcing during their event.
Below are the things Tim Cook spoke about on stage :
- Apple Arcade
- Apple TV Plus
- New 10.2″ 7th-gen iPad
- Apple Watch Series 5
- iPhone 11
- iPhone 11 Pro and 11 Pro Max
Let us discuss about everything in-detail and know more about them.
If you do not know, Apple Arcade is Apple’s gaming service. A service, using which you no longer need to pay to buy individual games. With the monthly subscription, you get access to all the high-end games on the App Store.
First talked about during the March Event, today, Apple added to the available information about Apple Arcade. Apple Arcade will be available from September 19 at a price of US$ 4.99 per month.
By paying $4.99 per month, you can access all the high-end games on the App Store, and no longer worry about pay for individual games anymore. The price, according to me, is pretty good, at a price tag of a single game, one gets access to the entire game library.
If you are willing to subscribe to Apple Arcade, let us know in the comments below.
Apple TV Plus
Apple TV Plus is the video streaming platform from Apple, an attempt to compete with Netflix. As mentioned by Tim, since the launch in Fall, Apple TV series has got more than a million views, which is being considered a very positive response from the users.
Adding more about Apple TV Plus, Tim said, it will be adding more Apple TV original series starting from November 1st. Customers who wish to opt for Apple TV Plus subscription need to pay $4.99 per month.
It is a tiny price tag from Apple; earlier, we had reports rumours for a price tag of $9.99 per month. But, to gain a vast customer base, Apple has reduced the price tag for the Apple TV Plus subscription.
One more thing, if you buy a new iPhone, iPad or Mac, you get a one-year subscription to Apple TV Plus for free. It is the best marketing offer from Apple I have ever seen. In the past, this has never happened before. I guess Apple is taking the competition with Netflix very seriously.
New 10.2″ 7th-gen iPad
Updating the iPad line-up, Apple refreshed iPad line-up. Apple rolled out a new 7th generation iPad, a successor of the 6th generation iPad. Older 6th-gen iPad featured a 9.7-inch screen, which is being replaced with a more modern 10.2-inch display on the 7th-gen iPad.
The new iPad features smart-connector — an attempt from Apple to add few PRO features to the entry-level iPad. Now, you can connect the Apple Smart Keyboard to the 7th-gen iPad. Having a 10-hour battery life, the new iPad is powered using the A10 Fusion chip.
The front camera on the iPad is a FaceTime HD camera, while at the back you get an 8MP camera. The camera is pretty decent, as compared to the previous generation.
Apple has put a price tag of US$ 329 on the new 7th-gen iPad. If you are buying for school or college, you get a discount of $100, which makes the price go down to $229. Making it a fantastic offer, depending upon the feature offered by Apple.
You can pre-order the new 10.2-inch 7th-gen iPad right now on Apple Store. However, shipping begins from September 30th.
Apple Watch Series 5
The chances for Apple to announce an Apple Watch Series five at this event were very less. But, we did get a new Apple Watch that too without Sleep Tracking. We will have to wait until 2020 for seeing Sleep Tracking on our Apple Watches.
Apple Watch Series 5 feature a new always-on display. The display of your Apple Watch will remain on all the time if you are looking at it or you are not looking at it. It can be helpful for the situation when you cannot tap on the watch face or move your wrist.
Apple added two new materials for Apple Watch 5, titanium and ceramic. Now, you get four options to choose from – Aluminium, Stainless Steel, Titanium (black and white), and Ceramic White. You can make your choice; even you can now customize your Apple Watch at an Apple Store in the Apple Watch Studio.
Also, the new watch tells you when your surrounding is too loud for you and can hamper your hearing power. There is a newly added application – Compass. Now, you can use your Apple Watch to check your direction, altitude, longitude, and elevation.
There is an added emergency feature, now Apple Watch Series 5 Cellular supports international emergency calling in more than hundred countries. The watch can call the emergency services without having your iPhone nearby.
The new Apple Watch Series 5 is available for pre-order right now, and the shipping begins from September 20th.
The most awaited announced for the event was the all new 2019 flagship smartphone – iPhone 11. As rumoured and reported, iPhone 11 features a dual-lens camera. Being the successor of the 2018 iPhone XR, iPhone 11 can provide one hour longer battery life. The exact battery size was not mentioned on stage, however.
Both the cameras on the iPhone are 12MP. Now, you can easily switch between the lens in a recording video, without losing focus or any other setting. There is a new Dark Mode for better low-light photography.
iPhone 11 is available in six different colours with newly added colours – Purple, Yellow, Green, Black, White, and Product RED. You can make your choice, just like the iPhone XR.
iPhone 11 starts at US$ 699 and will be available for pre-orders on September 13th. And the order shipping shall begin from September 20th, as predicted earlier.
iPhone 11 Pro and 11 Pro Max
The bigger and PRO model, the successor of the 2018 iPhone XS and XS Max is the iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max. Both the iPhones feature the triple-lens camera, which was the most awaited feature of the iPhone 11 Pro.
The triple-lens of the camera are Wide Angle, Ultra-Wide Angle, and Telephoto Lens. You can switch between the three lenses while shooting a video without losing your setting and focus. Dark Mode for photography enhances low-light photography on the iPhone. It makes it even more comfortable and fun to click some amazing pictures in the lowest light possible.
Powered by the fastest A13 bionic, iPhone 11 Pro and 11 Pro Max are high ends performance devices.
Over-all, the newer iPhones feature better camera and improved performance. Also, new colour – MidNight Green, along with Space Grey, White, and Gold.
iPhone 11 Pro and 11 Pro Max will be open for pre-orders from September 13th, and the orders will be shipped from September 20th.
iOS 13 and iPadOS 13
Well, we all were eagerly waiting for Apple to talk about iOS 13 and iPadOS 13 official launch date, but nothing much happened. Apple on stage did speak about iOS 13 and iPadOS 13, but with reference to how they can help improve iPhone 11 and 10.2-inch iPad performance.
We are yet waiting for Apple to comment on the official launch date for the OS update. But as per the rumours and assumptions from last years dates, we can see the official launch of iOS 13 and iPadOS 13 on Monday – September 16th. Along with iOS 13 and iPadOS 13, we also shall see macOS Catalina, watchOS 6 and tvOS 12.
That is everything Apple spoke about on stage. This was an overview of all the products and services discussed during the event, in case you are looking for a full review of each one of them, you can browse our latest articles.
